Sherri L. Hughes, Esq. has been in private practice since 1998, representing individuals and corporate entities in all matters relating to their respective legal needs.
 
In 1982 Ms. Hughes received her Juris Doctor Degree from Hofstra University School of Law and was admitted to the New York State Bar.  She is also admitted to the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York and the United States Supreme Court.
 
From 1982-1987, she served as an Assistant District Attorney in Nassau County, where she prosecuted and tried felonies, including attempted homicide and sex crimes.  From 1987 to 1989, subsequent to her tenure as an Assistant District Attorney, she was Senior Arbitration Counsel with the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD), responsible for case management of arbitration hearings in nine cities as well as the training of new attorneys in NASD arbitration rules and procedures.
 
Thereafter, from 1989 to 1998 she was Compliance Counsel for the New York Mercantile Exchange charged with ensuring the Exchange’s adherence to federal, State and Exchange market regulations.  Responsibilities included the strategic development, implementation and enforcement/prosecution of regulatory rules, policies, and procedures for the Exchange.
